Sierra Realty — custom agent portal the team actually uses
A brokerage drowning in Dropbox folders and WhatsApp groups. A custom portal with RBAC, listing sync, and an admin panel built for daily use.
What we walked into
Sierra Realty was operating on Dropbox plus WhatsApp plus a spreadsheet CRM. Agents could not find documents, the broker was approving contracts by email, and compliance audits were painful. They had tried off-the-shelf CRMs before and abandoned them because nobody on the team would actually use them.
How we built it
The brief
Build the smallest possible system that the team would actually use daily. No feature bloat, no enterprise workflows. A clean, fast portal that replaced Dropbox and the spreadsheet.
What we shipped
- Custom Next.js full-stack app on Postgres (Neon)
- Role-based access control: agents, brokers, admin
- Listing management with photo uploads and MLS sync
- Contract upload and approval flow with audit log
- Client management with notes, tags, and activity timeline
- Full audit trail of every sensitive action
What we measured
They built us a custom agent portal focused on what the team actually does. We use it every day — which is more than I can say about the two SaaS tools we ditched.
